Matte Black Monster.

I’ve been wondering how to do this and I still have no idea, but I must so once I say it I will feel like it has happened.

We found Roy in the garden. Actually, he was born in there, behind the swimming pool controllers. His mother delivered him with three more kitties and took care of them in there for a few days, until my neighbours (the owners of the cat) took the mother with the small cats and moved to the city. I wouldn’t say they abandoned him. He was weak, he could barely walk an he spent weeping most of the time. I guess they didn’t even know he was born.

That was the time when my grandpa was dying, so I spent plenty of time alone at home taking care of my sister and my cousin. We fed the cat with random stuff we had in the fridge and then, a few days later, my grandma gave us food from her own cat to feed him properly. And then, ‘If you want to keep it you must clean that filthy rat’. We kept him in the garden, since he didn’t like to be indoors.

He got used to freedom. At the beggining I thought he only came home because he identified it as his birthplace and he felt safe in here, or maybe only because we fed him and he really loved to lick the leftovers of our yogurts after dinner. The only times in which he had been loving was because he was hungry and he expected you to feed him, to fill his plate or to add more water to his tank. But sometimes, only sometimes, he was able to feel sadness. And he would sit beside you and start snoring.

Maybe he loved us, maybe not. But no one can deny that he’s been happy with us. I mean, he was a fucking cat, those animals never say ‘thank you’ in any way. We left him out, we fed him, we took care of him when he was sick and whenever he had trouble he came back home because it was a safe haven for him.

I wanted to have a cat because they die far from home, so I would not suffer. They just dissapear and never come back. Mine has been missing for a week and I feel so sad I could cry him a whole month.

(my sister did some polaroids with Roy’s essential attack moves when she was thirteen)

Everybody sees and everyone agrees that you and I are wrong
And it’s been that way too long
Baby take it as it comes and be thankful when it’s done
